D2 4.2 Developer Edition (Unofficial)

Now that we have a D7 Developer Edition and an xCP 2.1 Developer Edition, a D2 4.2 Developer Edition must be right around the corner, right?  Well, I haven’t heard anything official about such an offering, but there is a great post on the ECN by Alvaro de Andres describing how to create your own D2 4.2 Developer Edition.  Give it a try until EMC releases an official D2 Developer Edition.

UPDATE:  I have had the opportunity to try this myself and offer the following notes:

  • In the image’s default shell, tcsh, to set environment variables you must use the setenv command
  • On the image, Documentum is installed in the dctm directory, not documentum.  You will need to update all the paths accordingly.
  • On the image, JBoss is installed in the dfc_shared directory, not it’s normal location.  You will need to update the paths accordingly.

About Scott
I have been implementing Documentum solutions since 1997. In 2005, I published a book about developing Documentum solutions for the Documentum Desktop Client (ISBN 0595339689). In 2010, I began this blog as a record of interesting and (hopefully) helpful bits of information related to Documentum, and as a creative outlet.
