Documentum 7.2 Developer Edition

In case you missed the announcement in November, EMC Documentum has released the 7.2 Developer Edition.  Like the 7.1 edition, it is built on a CentOS image using PostgreSQL as its backing database.  The announcement claims it includes 30 new features and has addressed nearly 3,000 issues (Were there 3,000 issues with the 7.1 edition?) and represents 100,000 hours of effort.

The 7.2 Developer Edition contains only bare-bones features:

  • Content Server 7.2
  • DA 7.2
  • DFC and DFS/REST

The VMware image can be downloaded as a single image (~12GB) or as split images (22 files at 2GB each). For access to the image, fill out the form here:  https://developer-content.emc.com/downloads/documentum_dev_edition_72.htm.

Comments on the announcement are disabled and there is no tech support available for the image, save the developer community.  However, there are some helpful links at the end of the announcement, and you can find other helpful (and critical) posts if you look around (e.g., here and here).

About Scott
I have been implementing Documentum solutions since 1997. In 2005, I published a book about developing Documentum solutions for the Documentum Desktop Client (ISBN 0595339689). In 2010, I began this blog as a record of interesting and (hopefully) helpful bits of information related to Documentum, and as a creative outlet.
