D2 v4.5 (Hawk) Available

The latest upgrade to EMC Documentum’s D2 platform (v4.5) is now available for download.  Check the download site.

Here is a quick overview of new features (from the release notes):

  • Updated installer and new configuration utility.  (The configuration utility claims to ease the creation and deployment of Lockbox files.  This by itself is cause enough to cheer.)
  • D2-Config Specifications plug-in allows you to compare two different spec reports
  • Expanded security enhancements for HTTPS and SSO
  • Improved facet use and navigation to include facet breadcrumbs
  • Enhancements to search and query form widgets
  • Overall layout and UI improvements
  • Improvements to workflows including: multi-document workflows supported, graphical workflow widget, and customizable the custom task action labels to make Accept and Reject clearer
  • Improved annotation support
  • Improved Content Transfer performance
  • New Delegation Widget enables you to create and manage delegation configurations
  • Ability to copy/paste, drag/drop, and search among multiple repositories
  • Syncplicity Connector v1.1 supported
  • Deep folder import (This sounds cool!)
  • Ability to convert a folder structure to a virtual document (This sounds cool too!)
  • Ability to inherit entire Virtual Document structures/templates when creating new Virtual Documents
  • Enhanced intelligent URLs
  • Drag and Drop to Desktop (IE only with some caveats.)
  • Better 508 compliance
  • Right-To-Left language support in addition to localization features

I look forward to test driving it!  Enjoy.

About Scott
I have been implementing Documentum solutions since 1997. In 2005, I published a book about developing Documentum solutions for the Documentum Desktop Client (ISBN 0595339689). In 2010, I began this blog as a record of interesting and (hopefully) helpful bits of information related to Documentum, and as a creative outlet.
